Manchester United are not just window shopping this summer. They are actively hunting, and their latest target could spark one of the most provocative transfers of the entire window. According to The Independent, INEOS are exploring a move for Myles Lewis-Skelly, Arsenal's highly rated young talent, in what would be a deal guaranteed to send shockwaves through North London.
Let that sink in for a moment. United, a club still rebuilding under new ownership, are trying to prise away one of Arsenal's most exciting prospects. That is not a move born out of desperation. That is a statement of intent, and it is exactly the kind of bold, confrontational transfer strategy that INEOS were brought in to deliver.
Manchester United have hardly been idle in the transfer market. The club has already secured deals for Karl Darlow, Kit Margetson, Andrey Santos, Tynan Thompson, and Youri Tielemans this summer. On paper, that is a productive window. But dig deeper and the gaps are still visible. Lewis-Skelly, a versatile young talent capable of operating in midfield and at left-back, would tick multiple boxes for United. The question is whether Arsenal will even entertain the idea of letting him go.
Here is where it gets complicated. Reports indicate that Arsenal are not actively looking to sell Lewis-Skelly. That should surprise nobody. Mikel Arteta's side have invested heavily in developing their academy pipeline, and Lewis-Skelly is viewed as a core part of that future.
